Unorthodox Racing (“UR”) was founded early in 1996 by performance enthusiasts that had spent almost a decade hands on tweaking and tuning various American muscle cars. By the early 90’s it was clear a new automotive era was beginning to debut with high performance small displacement engines. Work began on what would be the first product line, underdrive pulleys, in late 1993. Slowly over the next 3 years the pulleys were tested and tweaked. In 1996 marketing research was started and UR was registered as a Sole Proprietorship that spring. The research showed a strong growing sustainable market was ready for the product and a formal business plan was created. The most important part of this plan was our strict policy of only making products that did what we said they would, fit like we said they would, looked like automotive artwork and would last the lifetime of the vehicle. UR was incorporated in early 1997 and our first web-site was created in the spring of that year. Our pulleys hit the hungry market in May of 1997 with our first ad in Turbo magazine. UR was quickly accepted by enthusiasts, racers and tuners alike as a supplier they could trust to make only the highest quality, uncompromising performance products. Since then car owners worldwide have installed and used UR products in vehicles ranging from everyday street cars to full out race cars. Combined there have been billion miles driven using our Ultra and Tuner Series products with only the highest satisfaction.
All UR products are designed and manufactured here in the U.S. using only the latest CAD software and development tools. We use only the finest U.S. produced materials available today. Our manufacturing processes follow strict quality control measures from material selection to machine equipment and tooling. These strict controls ensure superior products that are attractive, durable, and most of all reliable. All of our products are held to .001" tolerances usually only seen for aircraft, medical, military and space manufacturing programs. UR is going back to its roots with the introduction of dampers and underdrive accessory pulleys (alternator, power steering and water pump) for late model domestic V8 muscle. With the completion of final testing and tweaks in the early fall of 2008 we will usher in a new era of noise & motion suppression in automotive crank dampers. Our new Ultra Dampers use our patent pending 3D Technology, never seen in dampers before. 3D Technology is a revolutionary new absorption system and the first significant new damper development in 25+ years.
